We are proud to offer a range of medical services to our patients, including our Family Medicine (GP) Service, which provides exceptional care to patients of all ages. In this article, we will be focusing on our Blood Tests service, which is available through our Family Medicine Service.

Blood tests are a crucial diagnostic tool that can help healthcare professionals identify a range of medical conditions. At Bath Avenue Medical Centre, our highly qualified and experienced Medical and Nursing Team perform phlebotomy for Blood Tests to support Patients. We understand that blood tests can be a source of anxiety for some patients, which is why we take the time to explain the process in detail and answer any questions you may have.

Our Blood Tests (Phlebotomy) service is available to patients who need a blood test for diagnostic purposes or to monitor an existing medical condition. The cost of the standard phlebotomy service is €35, which is inclusive of the Phlebotomy visit with our Doctor or Nurse, the blood test itself, and the analysis of the results. Phlebotomy visits are free in special cases such as during HSE Chronic Disease Management Visits. If you have not attended Bath Avenue Medical Centre as a patient before, our Administrative Team will recommend a Clerical Appointment with the GP to gather and record your medical history. This is usually arranged at the same time as your phlebotomy appointment.

We offer a very wide range of blood tests, including full blood count, liver function tests, kidney function tests, thyroid function tests, and many more. Our team will work with you to determine which tests are most appropriate for your needs, based on your symptoms and medical history. If a blood test or other laboratory test is not available through the local HSE Hospital Laboratory Service, we can often source the analysis through Claymon Laboratories, independently, in Sandyford. Please feel welcome to discuss your test with our administrative staff who can help and advise further.

Once your blood test has been completed, our team will evaluate the test’s outcome and provide you with results. Our Team will take the time to discuss the results with you in plain English if you wish, ensuring that you understand what they mean and how they relate to your overall health. We can email copies of a result, or provide a printed copy for collection if needed for a hospital appointment or any other reason, if you ask.
