If you decide to proceed with the Depo-Provera injection, the process is simple and straightforward. The injection is given in the arm or buttock, and the appointment takes no longer than 15 minutes. After the injection, you can immediately resume your normal activities. You will need to return for another injection every 12 weeks to maintain protection against pregnancy.

It is important to note that Depo-Provera does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). We encourage all of our patients to consider practising safe sex by using a barrier method such as a condom in conjunction with the injection.

The cost of the consultation/administration of the Depo-Provera injection at Bath Avenue Medical Centre is €70. We believe that everyone should have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, which is why we strive to keep our services accessible to all. For this reason also, Depo-Provera is available free of charge to patients eligible for the HSE Contraception Scheme for patients aged 18 – 26.
